Banda seminal do punk rock australiano, The Saints nasceu em 1974 na cidade Brisbaine. A princípio era apenas uma bandinha de rock colegial formada por moleques de 14 anos que queriam mais era tocar covers de Stooges e MC5 mais classicões do aussie rock pré-AC/DC como Easybeats, Missing Links, the Atlantics etc.
Em 76 descobriram o punk e lançaram "I'm Stranded". A banda deu tão certo que em 78 eles se mudaram para a Inglaterra, mas como a saudade bateu mais forte, ficaram por lá só até o meio de 79, quando todos menos o cantor Chris Bailey voltaram para a Autralia. Bailey continuou como "Chris Bailey & The Saints". Todos os demais saíram-se muito em bem em suas outras carreiras; e somente em 2007, com o total e irrestrito apoio de Nick Cave, reuniram-se no seu lineup original.
